🌙 A Boy Who Asked Big Questions
Long ago, in a land where everyone worshipped idols and statues, a young boy named Ibrahim began to wonder: "Who is the real God?"
One night, Ibrahim looked up at the sky. He saw a beautiful bright star and thought, "Maybe this is my Lord?" But when the star set and disappeared, he said, "I don't love things that disappear."
Then he saw the moon, round and glowing. "Maybe the moon is my Lord?" But the moon set too. Then the sun rose, big and blazing. "This must be my Lord — it's the biggest!" But the sun also set.
Ibrahim realised the truth: the real God doesn't disappear! He declared: "I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, as a true believer, and I am not of those who associate partners with Allah."
إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا
"Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth..."
— Surah Al-An'am (6:79)🪨 Smashing the Idols!
Ibrahim grew up and his father Azar was actually a maker and seller of idols! Ibrahim couldn't understand why people prayed to statues made of stone and wood. He tried to convince his father and his people: "Why do you worship things that cannot hear, see, or help you?"
But nobody listened. One day, while everyone went to a big festival and left the temple of idols empty, Ibrahim sneaked in. He looked at all the big and small statues lined up with food offerings placed before them.
He said sarcastically to the idols: "Do you not eat? Why do you not speak?" Then, with an axe, Ibrahim smashed all the idols — except the biggest one. He hung the axe around the neck of the largest idol and walked away.
When the people came back and saw the destruction, they were furious! "Who did this to our gods?!" They found out it was Ibrahim. He was brought before the king and the people.
Ibrahim pointed at the biggest idol and said cleverly: "Ask them — the big one has the axe around his neck, maybe he did it!" The people said, "But idols can't speak!" And Ibrahim replied: "EXACTLY! So why do you worship them?!"
🔥 Into the Fire!
The king, Nimrod, was furious. He ordered that Ibrahim be thrown into a massive fire as punishment. The people gathered enormous amounts of wood and built the biggest fire anyone had ever seen. It was so hot that birds couldn't fly over it. They used a catapult to throw Ibrahim in so no one would get burned going near it.
But Ibrahim was not afraid. He trusted Allah completely. As he flew through the air toward the flames, he said: "HasbunAllah wa ni'mal wakeel" — "Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs."
Then Allah gave the most amazing command in all of history: "O fire! Be cool and safe upon Ibrahim!"
The fire obeyed Allah! Ibrahim landed in the flames — and sat there peacefully, as if sitting in a garden. The fire did not burn him at all! When they came to check, Ibrahim walked out of the fire unharmed, his clothes not even singed!
The people were astonished. Ibrahim's faith had triumphed over the mightiest fire!
قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
"We said: 'O fire! Be cool and safe upon Ibrahim!'"
— Surah Al-Anbiya (21:69)🕌 Building the Kaaba
Ibrahim went on to do many great things. Allah blessed him with two sons — Ismail and Ishaq. Ibrahim and his son Ismail together built the most sacred house of worship on Earth — the Kaaba in Makkah!
As they laid the stones, they prayed: "Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing."
That same Kaaba stands today, and millions of Muslims travel from all over the world every year to visit it during Hajj — following the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim!
Because of his unshakeable faith and love for Allah, Ibrahim was given the most beautiful title: Khalilullah — the Friend of Allah.
🌟 What We Learn from Ibrahim's Story
Think and question. Ibrahim used his mind to find the truth. We should always think about who created us and why.
Be brave for the truth. Even when everyone was against him, Ibrahim stood firm. Be brave when you know something is right.
Trust in Allah completely. When Ibrahim trusted Allah, even fire became cool. When we trust Allah, He protects us.
Leave a good legacy. Ibrahim built the Kaaba which Muslims visit to this day. Do good things that will last!
