✨ A Dream of Stars
When Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) was a young boy, he had an incredible dream. He told his father, Prophet Ya'qub (Jacob): "Father! I saw eleven stars, the sun, and the moon — all bowing down to me!"
His father was a prophet and he understood this dream meant something amazing — Yusuf would one day become a great leader. He told Yusuf: "Do not tell your brothers about this dream, or they may try to harm you. Shaytan is a clear enemy to man."
Yusuf was his father's most beloved son, and his brothers knew it. Their hearts filled with jealousy. They hatched a terrible plan.
نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ
"We relate to you the best of stories..."
— Surah Yusuf (12:3)🕳️ Thrown into a Well
Yusuf's brothers convinced their father to let them take Yusuf on a trip. Once far from home, they grabbed young Yusuf and threw him into a deep, dark well! They went home and lied to their father, saying a wolf had eaten him — showing his shirt stained with false blood as "proof."
Old Ya'qub wept and wept. He was heartbroken but he said: "Beautiful patience. And Allah is the one sought for help against what you describe."
But alone in the dark well, Yusuf was not abandoned. Allah comforted him and revealed: "Do not worry — one day you will remind your brothers of what they did to you."
Soon, a caravan of travellers passed by. They dropped their bucket into the well — and up came Yusuf! They took him with them to Egypt and sold him as a slave.
🏛️ From Slave to Trusted Servant
In Egypt, Yusuf was bought by a powerful man named Al-Aziz. Al-Aziz saw something special in this young man and treated him well. Yusuf grew up to be handsome, intelligent, and deeply faithful to Allah.
But trouble found him again. Al-Aziz's wife tried to tempt Yusuf into doing wrong. Yusuf refused completely and ran away. She grabbed his shirt from behind, tearing it. Her husband came home and she lied, saying Yusuf had tried to harm her!
But the torn shirt told the truth — it was torn from the back, meaning Yusuf was running away. The wise men said: "This is the scheming of women — their scheming is great."
Even though he was innocent, Yusuf was put in prison. But even in prison, Yusuf kept his faith, helped others, and was known for his good character.
👑 Explaining the King's Dream
In prison, Yusuf could explain dreams. One day, the King of Egypt had a puzzling dream: seven fat cows eaten by seven thin cows, and seven green stalks of wheat alongside seven dry ones. No one could explain it!
Yusuf was brought to the king. He said: "You will have seven years of great harvest. Then seven years of severe drought will come. Save food during the good years for the bad years ahead!"
The king was amazed. He immediately freed Yusuf and put him in charge of all of Egypt's food supply! A slave had become one of the most powerful men in the land — because of his faith and the gift Allah gave him!
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْأَرْضِ
"And thus We established Yusuf in the land..."
— Surah Yusuf (12:56)🤗 Family Reunited — Forgiveness Wins!
When the drought came, people from all over came to Egypt for food — including Yusuf's brothers! They didn't recognise him, but Yusuf recognised them immediately.
After testing them and seeing they had changed, Yusuf finally revealed himself. He said: "I am Yusuf, and this is my brother. Allah has been gracious to us."
His brothers fell to their knees in shame and fear. They said, "By Allah, Allah has preferred you over us!" But instead of anger, Yusuf said the most beautiful words: "No blame upon you today. May Allah forgive you. He is the Most Merciful."
Yusuf's father and family came to Egypt. When his parents entered and saw him on the throne, they all bowed — just like the dream from his childhood! After so many years of tears, the family was reunited. Ya'qub said: "My son! This is the fulfilment of my dream from long ago."
Yusuf looked up and said: "My Lord! You have given me power and taught me the interpretation of events. Creator of the heavens and earth — You are my protector in this world and the Hereafter. Let me die a Muslim and join me with the righteous."
🌟 What We Learn from Yusuf's Story
After every hardship comes ease. Yusuf went from a well → slave → prison → king. Allah's plan is always better than ours.
Forgiveness is strength, not weakness. Yusuf forgave his brothers who threw him in a well. True strength is in forgiving.
Stay away from sin, even when it's hard. Yusuf chose prison over doing wrong. Righteousness always wins in the end.
Never stop trusting Allah. Through every trial, Yusuf kept his faith — and Allah kept raising him higher.
